Thanks, Lindsay, for the beautiful picture of Shadow! I had almost forgotten how robust and "muscular" he was before he lost all that weight. Now I remember how he looked overflowing that cat bed - he really loved sleeping in it, but it seemed a little uncomfortable to me!

We miss him a lot - he was such a good shadowboy.

Shadow was a wonderful, unusual kitty who would look at your mom with soulful eyes and give her the "silent miaow". I think his story would make a great children's book--if only I could write!!!

Ah yes, that sounds right. I like such desserts. Maybe I'll try to make that one, or something like it, some time. Have you made these before?

Happy belated birthday, Lindsay!

As for the rice dessert, I suspect it might have been black glutinous rice that was cooked and slightly rinsed (to remove extra starch) before mixing with coconut milk and sugar. It's a pretty standard sort of Asian rice pudding. =)

I have heard that because of the different climate, the Washington Honeycrisp is not quite as delicious as the Minnesota Honeycrisp Because the Honeycrisp was developed in Minnesota, it reaches it's full potential in taste and texture when grown in Minnesota! Maybe Grandma Viv (hint hint) will have some Honeycrisps from the Pine Tree Apple Orchard available at Christmas! (I sure sound like a loyal Minnesotan, don't I??)
